Build a licensed music experience around your audio hardware or instrument

While your hardware product delivers music directly to your users, third-party streaming services or learning tools frequently claim the customer relationship. Tuned Global gives audio electronics and musical instrument brands the technology, catalogue infrastructure and licensing support to build a branded music experience around their products, without building the music infrastructure from scratch or navigating music rights alone.

Why is it so difficult to own the music experience around your product?

Audio electronics and instrument brands face different versions of the same problem. Integrations such as Spotify Connect and Qobuz Connect make playback convenient, but the streaming provider retains control of discovery, listening data and the ongoing service relationship. Commercial music integration can instead unlock entirely new product experiences, but the technology and rights requirements sit well outside most hardware teams’ core expertise.

user-relationship

Build a direct customer relationship. Go beyond being a playback endpoint. Create a branded music layer that gives customers a reason to return to your app, device or wider product ecosystem.

sandbox

Validate the opportunity before a full launch. Start with a pilot, limited catalogue, single territory to test the experience, technical model and licensing pathway before scaling.

premium-experience

Protect your premium product experience. Support the quality of your hardware with reliable playback, strong discovery and music delivery designed for premium audio and instrument experiences.

fast-delivery

Move faster than an internal build. Skip the 18+ months it typically takes to build music infrastructure in-house, and launch in months instead.

The music cloud platform for audio electronics and musical instrument brands

Wide range of streaming features and content formats

Our platform supports music, radio, podcasts, audiobooks, video, live content and karaoke across apps, connected devices and embedded environments.

Pre-built capabilities include search, playback, unified listening / juke box, playlists, favourites, recommendations, offline listening, subscriptions and curated radio.

You can select the formats and functionality relevant to your product while retaining control of the customer experience and roadmap.

High-resolution and specialised audio delivery

Support every listening tier, from efficient everyday streaming to premium lossless playback. Standard AAC profiles at 48 and 96 kbps are included in our core service, with High Quality audio at 256 kbps AAC and HD delivery in lossless FLAC available for premium experiences.

We ingest FLAC or WAV masters in 16-bit and 24-bit formats, then manage their encoding, storage and delivery across the required quality levels, devices and connectivity conditions.

Entitlement controls can restrict HD playback to eligible devices, users or subscription tiers, while specialist and proprietary codec workflows can also be supported subject to source availability, licensing approval and the agreed implementation.

Music curation, playlists and access control

Support both on-demand and lean-back experiences through system playlists, user-generated playlists, seeded stations and curated radio.

AutoTune, our content management system, gives your curation team one place to search the catalogue, build and manage carousels, playlists and radio stations, organise content with tags, and apply content access rules.

Power Search and, where enabled, AI-assisted song suggestions help curators find suitable tracks faster using criteria such as natural language, genre, BPM, era, key, label and release date.

Search, discovery and recommendations

TunedIQ is our search, recommendation and discovery system. It uses listening behaviour, catalogue metadata and Figaro Music Understanding, our audio-analysis layer for genre, mood and music embeddings. Together, these capabilities power relevant search, personalised recommendations, similar-track discovery and continuous listening and automatically generated experiences such as Daily Discovery experiences across diverse international catalogues.

Music-learning and instrument experiences

For instrument and music-learning brands, Tuned Global provides the licensed-music infrastructure needed to build new learning and interactive experiences. This can include catalogue hosting, search and metadata APIs, secure previews, steam separation and asset delivery, together with support in defining the appropriate licensing pathway for your brands and/or devices. Your own learning technology and product experience can then connect to that infrastructure.

Entitlements, subscriptions and billing integration

Subscription packages, trials and cancellation rules can be configured through our platform, with support for third-party payment providers and native app-store purchases. Playback can be controlled by entitlement, subscription status, territory, device and concurrency rules, while offline access can be enabled for eligible users and devices.

Sandbox development and integration support

Start building before committing to a full commercial launch. A dedicated sandbox can provide access to Tuned Global’s APIs, CMS, catalogue search, metadata, secure previews and asset delivery in a controlled development environment. Your team can validate the integration and product experience while the production catalogue and licensing pathway are being finalised.

More questions?

Find answers to frequently asked questions from audio electronics and musical instrument teams.

Do you have pre-licensed music I can use?

Not as a single catalogue that is automatically pre-licensed for every service, territory or use case. However, Tuned Global has established licensing frameworks with several record labels such as Universal Music Group, Believe, EMPIRE and TuneCore Japan, to fast track licensing.

We also facilitate discussions with other major and independent rights holders, including Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, Merlin and more.

The appropriate licensing route depends on your product, territories and commercial model, and some agreements may need to be signed directly between your business and the relevant rights holders. We help define that pathway and connect the resulting rights to catalogue delivery, rights controls and reporting.

How long does music licensing actually take?

Licensing negotiations are typically measured in months, not weeks, and rights holders evaluate your use case, territory, audience, technical infrastructure and commercial model before agreeing to anything. We help you plan your product roadmap around realistic timelines, and structure use cases (particularly newer ones involving AI or music learning) so labels can approve the concept early rather than blocking it later.

Can you help with high-resolution or specialised audio formats?

Yes. We can ingest FLAC or WAV masters in 16-bit and 24-bit formats and prepare multiple delivery profiles, including standard AAC at 48 and 96 kbps, High Quality audio at 256 kbps AAC and HD delivery in lossless FLAC. Audio quality can be managed according to the user’s device, connectivity conditions and subscription entitlements. We can also support specialist and proprietary codec workflows, subject to source availability, licensing approval and the agreed implementation.

Can you generate the usage reports our rights holders require?

Yes. Our reporting infrastructure, RAPPORT, generates Regional Rights and Rights Holder Usage Reporting in the format and frequency each rights holder requires, and can extend to publisher and PRO reporting where needed.

Do you have your own recommendation engine?

Yes. TunedIQ is our machine-learning recommendation engine, built to work across artists and repertoire from Asia, Africa, Europe and the US, and can be extended with third-party tagging and search integrations where your product needs them.

Can we start small before committing to a full launch?

Yes. You can begin with a developer sandbox, a limited catalogue, a single territory or a focused pilot, and validate the experience, the rights pathway and the technical approach before scaling to a full launch.

We're an instrument or music-learning brand, not a hi-fi or speaker company. Does this still apply to us?

Yes. Licensed music can support a wide range of practice, learning, discovery and interactive experiences around an instrument or music-education product. Tuned Global provides the catalogue infrastructure, search and metadata APIs, secure asset delivery and licensing support needed to connect commercial music with your own technology and customer experience. Because the appropriate rights depend on how the music will be used, we help define the licensing pathway early so it does not become a barrier later in development.

Can we embed music directly into a device, without needing a companion app?

Yes. Music can be delivered through the hardware itself rather than only through an app, using our APIs for catalogue access, playback and range-request audio retrieval. Curated stations, presets or backing tracks can be triggered directly through buttons, dials or the device interface, with content preloaded or streamed from the cloud depending on your connectivity and storage.
